Moldawien
Moldova, in Eastern Europe, borders Romania and Ukraine. The country occupies the lands of historical Bessarabia. The capital, Chisinau, is its cultural and economic centre. The official language is Romanian, and the population numbers around 2.6 million. Moldova is well worth exploring for its vineyards, monasteries and picturesque villages. Its temperate continental climate means the best time to visit is spring and autumn, when temperatures are mild.
